~ Gruinard Bay ~

Gruinard Bay is unusual in this rockbound coast in having three beautiful beaches, with pink sand from the Torridon rocks.

Little Loch Broom This is crofting country, and the road passes through several typical crofting townships. In some of these, the crofts are worked and productive; in others, the land has reverted to rushes and heather. Dundonnell is at the head of little Loch Broom, and is a village dominated by the great ridge of An Teallach, the great ridge of red rock to the south. This gets its name of The Forge from the mists that so often drift like smoke around its peaks. There are 11 peaks in all, rising to a summit at Bidean a' Glas Thuill at 3451 feet.
